Imprinted Concrete Driveway and Patio Transformation in Hengrove

The challenge

Our solution

We recommended imprinted concrete because it would give the customer the clean, joint-free surface they wanted without losing the character of a patterned finish.

Unlike individual slabs, imprinted concrete is laid as one continuous surface. That meant there would be no separate paving units to shift, rock or loosen over time. The process

This entire project was completed in just four visits, with the main groundwork and installation handled across two full days.

Day 1: Excavation and preparation 

On day one, we removed the old surface and prepared the base properly, giving the new driveway and patio the support needed for a stable, long-lasting finish. 

Good preparation is one of the most important parts of any imprinted concrete installation. The finished surface is only as reliable as the base beneath it, so we made sure the area was properly dug out and prepared before the concrete went down.

This also gave us the opportunity to plan the levels around the rear garden access and the new steps into the lawn.

Day 2: Laying the concrete

On day two, we laid the concrete.

Once the concrete was in place, we added the colour and printed the textured cobble pattern into the surface. This is the stage where the design really starts to come together, as the plain concrete begins to take on the look and texture of cobbled paving.

Days 3 and 4: Washing, cutting and sealing the surface

After we had printed the surface, we returned for two half days to wash, cut and seal it.

The washing stage clears away release agents and reveals the final colour. Cutting helps control movement in the surface, while sealing protects the finish and gives the concrete its final appearance.

Sealing is especially important for long-term performance. Imprinted concrete is renowned for its durability, but proper sealing is what helps preserve the colour, protect the surface and keep the finish looking its best over time. 

The results

The finished driveway and rear patio gave the property a much cleaner, sharper and more practical outdoor space, just in time for summer.

At the front and side of the home, the charcoal textured cobble pattern created a smart route to the garage and garden. At the rear, the new patio replaced the loose, weed-prone slabs with a surface that felt far more stable and easier to look after.
